Power Play San Diegoillustration, Interaction
Here is a permanent interactive called Power Play that I designed at Unified Field for the Reuben H Fleet Science Center’s Fleet Energy Exhibition. In this hands-on activity, visitors learn how energy companies keep the balance between supply and demand. Visitors ‘generate’ demand to power residentials, offices, factories, military and schools. High transmission lines flow across to the demand side of the wall and a display shows the total generated power. Visitors control a Smart Demand setting to influence demand side, which will tell them to cut back usage or not. Visitors learn to use power when it is plentiful and try to avoid causing spikes that could cause blackout.
